Primary Purpose of Job:


Evaluate and facilitate from planning to post implementation complex substation, distribution, Smart Grid, and/or information technology projects/programs/initiatives consisting of cross-functional teams involving multiple disciplines and multiple operating areas.  Provide technical analysis of projects for OCC stakeholders.  Ensure organizational alignment with management models & principles and drive the integration of best practices.  Track and report progress on key business initiatives.   Manage quality assurance and/or change management activities involving internal and external personnel.  This position will maintain an on-going interface with various Exelon organizations in areas such as the execution of business processes, strategic initiatives, and management model implementation. Expertise in substation and distribution operation & design are crucial requirements for this position.  Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


Primary Duties and Accountabilities:

  • 40% - Facilitate and/or participate on teams for projects involving new technology that affect the OCC.  Ensure OCC Operations and Planning departments needs are met regarding - technical analysis, procedure development, training development, stakeholder socialization, commissioning, and on-going support.  Act as OCC system integrator and change management liaison. 
  • 20% - Support OCC ops planning department with high risk switching requests and out of config switching plans.  Develop & facilitate best practice documentation.  Analyze, develop & review non-standard switching operations.
  • 20% - Support OCC system operations on substation/distribution protection & control and switching concerns.  Utilize engineering tools and external department collaboration to drive operational issues to completion.
  • 15% - Serve as a technical liaison to external stakeholders.  Ensure OCC needs and concerns are addressed.
  • 5% - Miscellaneous OCC management needs.


  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field with a minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs).
  • Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, & PowerPoint), and relevant specialized business applications (e.g., project portfolio management, requirements/test management, CIS/CRM, customer self-service, telephony, EPS, EAM, work management, & outage management) to support business needs.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to create value with advanced problem solving, financial/analytical, performance management, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team. Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, meet critical deadlines, communicate effectively, and foster culture change.
  • Customer driven with demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with people of all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including new technology

  • MBA or Master's degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field
  • Certification as : Certified Associate in Project Mgmt (CAPM) OR Project Management Professional (PMP) OR Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Advanced knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management. Ability to analyze complex business processes and systems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.
  • Expert analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
