BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW


ComEd and its nearly 6,000 employees are responsible for maintaining more than 78,000 miles of power lines that make up the electric transmission and distribution system in Northern Illinois. ComEd, headquartered in Chicago, serves approximately 70 percent of Illinois' population – about 9 million people – in a service territory that spans 11,400 square miles. Locations in Northern Illinois including Chicago and surrounding suburbs.


JOB DESCRIPTION


ComEd is seeking a motivated college student or graduate student to support corporate giving, civic sponsorship and employee communications, within the Corporate Relations department. Candidates preferably are pursuing a degree in Business or Liberal Arts. Must possess excellent project management and communication skills, have an above average attention to detail, and be a self-starter with a positive attitude. Start date of December with a commitment through June 2020 required, with possible opportunity for up to 6-month extension. Competitive compensation; 25-30 hours per week. Position located at company headquarters in downtown Chicago; relocation will not be provided.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


*Assist in coordination of sponsorship fulfillment with outside partners
*Produce monthly employee e-newsletter highlighting current sponsorships
*Support management of grant application process
*Coordinate with other Exelon and ComEd departments, including marketing and communications, as needed
*Maintain and update website content
*Assist with administrative duties within Exelon’s volunteer portal
*Manage in-kind donation delivery and tracking
*Research business issues, best practices, and industry trends
*Handle administrative and other duties related to departmental events

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION

 

Minimum:

*Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills
*Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines, and at times, under limited direction
*Proven ability to work independently and within a team


Preferred:
*Passionate about current events
*Interest and/or knowledge of nonprofits in northern Illinois
*Understanding of public affairs
