We are a Fortune 200 company, 19,000 colleagues strong serving more than 10 million customers at six energy companies -- Atlantic City Electric (ACE), Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), Delmarva Power & Light (DPL), PECO Energy Company (PECO), and Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco).
In our relentless pursuit of excellence, we elevate diverse voices, fresh perspectives and bold thinking. And since we know transforming the future of energy is hard work, we provide competitive compensation, incentives, excellent benefits and the opportunity to build a rewarding career.
Are you in?
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for relatively complex systems and on a number of smaller projects or portions of a larger project for the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. Performs field engineering and provides designs for both internal and external customers. May coordinate, track and monitor the electrical requirements of New Business projects to meet customer need dates. Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
As a member of the South Distribution Fiber Design Engineering Team, you will be engaged with transforming, upgrading, and modernizing the current overhead and underground electric delivery infrastructure to the electric grid of the future. Fiber Optic design requires you to create Make Ready design that prepares the electric infrastructure for the addition of our fiber optic cable and creation of fiber optic outside plant design for the route of the fiber itself. You will determine overhead/underground applicability, location of splices, slack coils and apply the engineering guidance to develop these designs. Fiber optic design requires both electric distribution engineering as well as fiber optic outside plant design. You will engage your problem-solving skills and innovative practices while combining field visits with a collaborative office environment. We work dynamically both remotely and meeting weekly together as a team. You will have the opportunity to evaluate and analyze your design skills while applying good engineering principles to deliver a quality design for our construction partners to execute and bring to life.
