PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The DA (Distribution Automation) philosophy is the makeup of the devices and systems utilized to automatically support the protection, isolation, and restoration of the 34kV, 12kV, and 4kV voltage level distribution system outside of the substation boundary. Therefore, the DA organizational core functions are to design protection schemes to enhance resiliency and stability of distribution system, perform real-time analysis of device operations, perform predictive analytics and fault locates, perform relay protection settings testing in a lab environment, and manage deployment of DA devices to support the DA philosophy. The successful candidate will be a key strategic partner with the implementation of DA technologies such as automatic sectionalization and reclosing schemes (ASR), reclosers, sectionalization, capacitor controls, underground network remote monitoring systems, underground interrupting switches, smart sensor faulted circuit indicators, and voltage regulator control. Additionally, we work with the latest utility network communication technologies and data protocols relating to radio, telecom, serial and ethernet, fiber, mirrored bits, Pi, PMU, SCADA, DNP3, and IEC 61850 GOOSE.
Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects. Operates independently and seeks guidance when appropriate.
Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
