The Prin Ops Support Specialist is a content expert who manages and delivers projects that integrate business processes and systems with skills and knowledge required for employees to safely and effectively perform job duties. They assess the organization to identify areas of improvement. The Prin Ops Support Specialist leads the business process improvement and strategic initiatives that support the business plans and goals of the organization. The Prin Ops Support Specialist participates in drills with Regional Transmission Organizations ('RTO'), Interconnected Transmission Companies, Interconnected Generating Companies, Interconnected Customers, Exelon organizations and regulatory agencies (PJM, NERC & FERC). The Prin Ops Support Specialist administers the Management Model for the organization and researches, develops or modifies procedures that are used by the organization to operate the system in a safe and reliable manner on a day-to-day basis in normal and emergency situations. Note: Where someone qualified as a transmission dispatcher assumes this position, they are expected to maintain such qualifications and perform dispatch functions on an as-needed basis. Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


  • Lead projects and initiatives that support the organization’s business plans and strategic goals. (50%)

  • Investigate and develop business case for new Operations tools and systems. (20%)

  • Represent the organization on cross-functional projects and initiatives. (15%)

  • Develop and maintain the Transmission System Operations procedures, manuals and guides that govern the day-to-day operations of the system in normal and emergency situations. (10%)

  • Influence external organizations and regulatory agencies, via participation in committees, such as PJM Working Groups / Task Forces, North American Transmission Forum (NATF) Work Practice Areas, and NERC committees to influence policy development. (5%)


The Prin Ops Support Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of Transmission System Operation special projects and strategic initiatives. The Prin Ops Support Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of the Management Model Policies, Programs and Procedures that govern the day-to-day normal operations and the emergency operations used by the control room. The Prin Ops Support Specialist actions have a significant and direct impact on transmission system reliability and public and employee safety. The Prin Ops Support Specialist has direct interaction with internal and external customers such as: Regional Transmission Organizations ('RTO'), Interconnected Transmission Companies, Interconnected Generating Companies, Interconnected Customers, Exelon organizations and regulatory agencies (PJM, NERC & FERC).



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or job related technical field plus 8-10 years of experience OR in lieu of Bachelor's degree a minimum of 12-14 years relevant experience is required.

  • Experience in the operation, planning, design or maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment

  • Advanced knowledge and use of computer systems and applications w/ Word/Access/Excel/PowerPoint/PI-historian

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to coordinate activities with other Energy Delivery departments, PJM and Generating Plants

  • Demonstrated teamwork and strong interpersonal skills


  • Experience as a Project Manager

  • Experience as a Transmission Dispatcher

  • Experience as a trainer in adult training situations

  • Knowledge of PJM rules and regulations

  • Knowledge of Clearance and Tagging

  • PJM certification

  • NERC certification

*Position is considered hybrid, you maybe required to work in office upto 3 days per week.
